Brooklyn Public Library-Eastern Parkway Residency
In Summer 2018, I was one of the inaugural artists-in-residence at Brooklyn Public Library-Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood. This is one of BPL's historic Carnegie library branches. My residency was supported by an incubator grant from Brooklyn Public Library's Central Library.
I spent the residency creating artwork with children and preparing individual and collaborative pieces for display in both adult and children's sections of the library. Most of the work involved recycled or repurposed materials and sculptural elements. This included discarded books and magazines. Throughout this time, I also maintained my on-site studio and storage space to facilitate programming.
The final celebration involved video projections, collaborative art-making, and card-writing from library patrons in support of the grant program. |
