Fathers of Brooklyn
Fathers of Brooklyn is a documentary film and photography project, focusing on fatherhood in my borough. I'm doing portraits and interviews with Brooklyn fathers from various racial and cultural backgrounds, particularly those who identify as Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Jewish. Interviews touch on everything from co-parenting to K-12 education to the cost of living to prison life as a father and more. As an intersectional feminist, I believe that patriarchy oppresses men, too. This is a system that hurts many fathers in their ability to effectively and lovingly parent. Improving societal conditions and expectations for fatherhood is PART of the solution for achieving gender equity. Fathers of Brooklyn advances this stance.
