Valet Gallery

Water for the Cactus Woman was a multimedia solo show at Valet Gallery in Richmond, VA in September/October 2018. It centered on my book by the same name, Water for the Cactus Woman (SpuytenDuyvil, 2018), and made use of video, photography, and found object sculpture with strobe and construction site lighting. The gallery is located in a former office for a valet company and maintains its original look. Gallery windows face the street and the neighboring parking garage. As the manager at the time told me, "This gallery is not your typical white cube—but it's not supposed to be." The opening reception for the show included a reading with my Quail Bell Magazine collaborators Gretchen Gales and Christopher Sloce.
